Sept. 9 – Wednesday Night Activities Begin
There will be various Fall activities—-look for events and dates to follow!!
Upcoming Youth Events
Back-to-School Pool Party
We will be having a Back to School Pool Party at Trails West YMCA behind the zoo on August 23 from 2:00-4:00. Depending on how many people come, the parents can sit on the outside of the fence in their chairs and visit. There is a 50 person limit right now….it might change, but for now that is what we will plan for. For the smaller children that need a parent, plan on just one parent going in the pool, so we can save room for more kids. We are so looking forward to getting back together with everyone! Any questions, contact Missi at 308-225-2527 or miasillo@aol.com.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT ACTIVITIES TO START AGAIN!
Our Wednesday night youth groups will begin on Sept. 9 from 6-7 pm. For the time being, we will not have supper prior to our groups starting. Hopefully, this will just be temporary. Our groups will remain the same…Kidz Club will be pre-K thru 2nd grade, 3rd-5th grade, 6-7th Confirmation class and post-Confirmation through 12th grade. If you have any questions, please contact Missi.
Confirmation is a two-year program open to persons in the 6th through 8th grade (and older if needed) who would like to explore becoming a professing Christian and a member of our church. Confirmation is not the beginning or the end of the faith journey. Confirmation is about an individual coming to the decision to accept Jesus Christ as their Savior, and make the commitment to be the body of Christ, lived out by his/her prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. It is a life-changing commitment that leads to transformation of heart and life. Confirmation is led by the three person team of Pastor Craig Collins, Jennifer Splichal and Sara Peterson. We will meet with students, mentors and parents on the first night, September 5. Come for supper at 5:30 and then we will meet at 6:00 pm to go over the expectations, schedules and curriculum. Mentors are needed! We want each youth to have a mentor, whom they will meet with weekly. The purpose of a mentor is to develop a relationship with their confirmand in order to talk about life and faith. Mentors will be seasoned Christians who effectively demonstrate their faith. Mentors will meet weekly with the confirmand to discuss highlights of the lesson and any questions that may arise. The mentor will reflect upon their own faith journey, knowledge and experiences. They will support their confirmand in prayer and encourage them in their faith journey. Contact Pastor Craig if you are interested in serving the church in this way.
